Born on January 24, 1950, in Richmond County, he was a son of the late William Andrew Jordan and Joyce Louise Woodside Jordan.

Al's life was one of service and dedication. A proud US Army veteran, he served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he built a successful career at Rae Magnet Wire and later at Estes Trucking. Al's approach to life was marked by kindness and a love for others. He never met a stranger, and to know him was to experience the warmth of his friendship. He shared a beautiful journey of 55 years with his beloved wife, Gloria Jean Beasley Jordan of the home, who was the light of his life and always managed to put a smile on his face. Together, they raised two daughters, Regan Jordan Sampson (Matthew) of Stanley, NC, and Leslie Jordan Clark of Sunset Beach, NC who will forever cherish his memory and the values he instilled in them. Al was a brother to Jackie Jordan (Sudie) of Gibson, and he carried fond memories of his late brother, Miles Andrew Jordan. His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren, Lauren Holloway (Jacob) of Laurel Hill, William Seth English of Fort Bragg, and Jordan Tyler Bishop of Stanley, NC, as well as his great-grandchildren, Rhett and Greyson Holloway, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride. A man of many interests, Al's love for music was evident in the way he played his guitar and his admiration for Willie Nelson. His loved to watch his grandchildren play outside. An avid fan of the Tarheels, Yankees, and Green Bay Packers, he shared his enthusiasm for sports with everyone around him.
