Wilbur McRae, 89, of Buffalo Road died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Morrison Manor.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Centre Presbyterian Church officiated by Pastor Charles Wentz. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lula McLean McRae; his daughters, Mary Lou Beeker (Jerry) of Raleigh and Nancy McBryde (Steve) of Maxton; his sisters, Mary Alice McGirt (Hal) of Columbia, SC and Lois Thompson of Bristol, TN; his grandchildren, Thomas Beeker, Bill Thompson (Candice,) Carol Thompson (Paul Trapani,) and John McBryde (Kristen;) two great grandsons, McRae and Davis Thompson.
Born January 10, 1923 in Robeson County, he was a son of the late Marvin and Alice Deaton McRae. Wilbur served with the US Army and later took classes at Presbyterian Junior College before beginning a 43 year career with Maxton Oil Company where he retired as the vice president and general manager.
An active member of Centre Presbyterian Church, he served as a former Deacon, Elder, and was very active in the annual Ingathering.
Visitation will be 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
