Wilbur Hester, Jr., 60, of Gibson Road died Tuesday, August 10, at his home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church officiated by the Revs. Nancy Willard, Roy McCook, and Ralph Brown. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Gibson Hester; two sons, David Hester (Wanda) of Lumberton and Jonathan Hester (Kristie) of Cary; a step-son, Wade Logan (Emmy) of Ft. Mill, SC; his mother, Elizabeth Lennon Hester of Laurinburg and formerly of Bladenboro; his mother-in-law, Lois Gibson of Gibson; two grandchildren, D. J. Hester and Olivia Hester.
Born August 30, 1949 in Bladen County, he was also a son of the late Roy Wilbur Hester, Sr. He was a 1967 graduate of Bladenboro High School, attended Southeastern Community College, and was employed with LOF Glass from 1972 until his retirement in 1997. Wilbur was also a board member of the Gibson Fire Department and enjoyed woodworking, farming, his pets, UNC athletics, and John Deere tractors.
Memorials are requested for Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353, the Fran & J. D. Animal Shelter, 1401 West Blvd., Laurinburg, NC 28352 or the First United Methodist Church Youth, 101 W. Church St., Laurinburg, NC 28352.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
