Wayne Edward "Eddie" Butler, 65, of Peele's Chapel Road died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium in Laurinburg. No services are scheduled.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jean Greer Butler, two sons, Wayne Butler and Brian Butler of Laurel Hill; three step-sons, Kenneth Wethington of Laurel Hill, Jeffrey Wethington of Maiden, and Scott Wethington of Hickory; a brother, Russell Butler of Laurel Hill; five sisters, Carolyn Norton, Vivian Cranston, and Teresa Karlis of Laurinburg, Betty Butler of Laurel Hill, and Audrey Terry of Gibson; 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Marshall Butler and Jennings Butler.

Born February 4, 1943 in Marlboro County, SC, he was a son of the late Ed and Alma Scott Butler. He formerly served with the US Army and recently retired as a breeding supervisor for Murphy-Brown. Eddie was also an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and was a fan of the Washington Redskins and the Atlanta Braves.
