Mr. Walter D. "Chip" Nicholson, 50, of 505 South Fourth Street died Thursday, August 11.

A memorial service will be 3 pm Sunday at Macclesfield Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Herbert Dail. A graveside service will be 2 pm Monday at Hillside Cemetery, Laurinburg officiated by Rev. Dr. Stan Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny Lou Webb Nicholson; one son, Adam R. Crist of Travis AF Base, CA; his mother, Ann Stewart Nicholson of Laurinburg; one brother, Tommy Nicholson of Laurinburg. He was also the son of the late Walter Dewitt Nicholson.

A native of Laurinburg, NC, he was a graduate of Western Carolina University and was the program coordinator for the Nash County Environmental Health. Chip enjoyed outdoor activities, especially fishing.
