Walter Frederick (Fred) Cashwell, Jr

Mr. Walter Frederick "Fred" Cashwell, Jr., 80, of 522 First Street died Saturday, April 7, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Denny Wise. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

He is survived by a brother, Bill Cashwell of Ocean Isle Beach; and a sister, Maxine Gobennesch of Ocean Isle Beach.

Born May 1, 1920 in Cumberland County he was a son of the late Walter F. and Beulah Phillips Cashwell. He served with the US Marines as a Master Sergeant in World War II and retired from the US Army after 20 years of service. Fred was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where he was a choir member. He was also a member of the Golden K Club.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
