Mr. Walter "Ben" Ammons, 76, of 11844 Johns Road died Sunday, February 2, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel officiated by the Revs. Mike Coble and L. J. Young. Burial will follow in Scotland Cemetery.
Born May 17, 1926 in Dillon County, SC a son of the late Menyon and Cely Ann Caulder Ammons. He was employed as a loom fixer in textiles, retiring in 1991 with West Point/Stevens after 47 years. He enjoyed gardening, farming and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia Outlaw Ammons; two sons, Ben Ammons and wife, Eleanor of Laurinburg and Ronnie Ammons and wife, Jadwiga of Virginia Beach; three daughters, Carolyn Dees and husband, Charles of Hamlet, Joyce Ammons Grimsley and husband, Harold of Laurinburg, and Wanda Villaponteaux and husband, Jack of Moncks Corner, SC; two brothers, Henry Ammons of Laurel Hill and Jessie Ammons of Dillon, SC; a sister, Marian Caulder of Columbia, SC; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
