Virginia Dunn "Susie" Coleman, 94, died Thursday, March 13, 2014.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Carl Redding. Visitation will precede the service in the church fellowship hall beginning at 2:00 p.m.
She is survived by her sons, Steve Coleman (Edna) of Jamestown and Don Coleman, Jr. (Fran) of Fayetteville; her daughter Betty Kay Shelton of Maxton; four grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughters Barbara Kinlaw and Deborah Coleman.
Born September 24, 1919 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late David E. Dunn, Sr. and Kathleen Davis Dunn and widow of the late Donald VanCott Coleman, Sr.
A lady with many passions, Susie loved her children, her church, and was the biggest fan of the UNC Tar Heels. For over 50 years she nursed and cared for her late daughter, Deborah.
A passionate pianist, she and Rachel Thompson visited several retirement communities where she played the piano and Rachel sang. She was also active in the Good Samaritans Club.
