Virginia Crews Baker passed away peacefully at Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, NC, on Sunday, February 10, 2019.

A native of Raleigh, NC, Virginia was born on March 19, 1924.  In 1948, she married Emmet Baker, Jr., and moved to her husband’s hometown of Laurinburg. She was the buyer and bridal gift consultant for Roberts Jewelers where she assisted many couples with their selections.

Virginia was predeceased by her parents, Realis and Neva Upchurch Crews; brothers, Thomas and Ralph Crews; brother-in-law, Jack “Bud” Baker, and her beloved husband of 55 years, Emmet Baker, Jr.

She is survived by her special cousin, Mary Reca Todd of Raleigh; sister-in-law Margaret Carr Baker; nieces Lynn Crews Reynolds, Gail Crews Fields, Ruth Baker Lytch, and cousin, Carl Moore, Jr. and their families along with her dearest friend Tot Parson’s family. The family wishes to thank Maxine Locklear and Mary Sandra Taylor for their tireless dedication and deep friendship to Virginia that greatly enriched her life for the past 3 years and also caregivers, Darlene Moore and Kim McGee. A private graveside funeral will be Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Hillside Memorial Park in Laurinburg, NC, officiated by Dr. Thomas Marshall.
