She studied the Bible and dedicated her life to Jehovah God in 1950 and served him faithfully until her death.  She followed her husband’s work from Wilmington to Whiteville, back to Wilmington and then to Wallace.  After she retired from National Motor Club in 1988 they moved to Laurinburg. They enjoyed traveling and visited many places in the US, Curacaos, and Hawaii, as well as several cruises. She and her husband, Eugene, traveled to many sites in North and South Carolina to help build Kingdom Halls.  She was known for her cheerful disposition, having a listening ear, and helping people in need. She loved to “entertain strangers”, as the scriptures say, with her cooking and hospitality.  In 2011 she began living with her daughter in Laurinburg until her death.  Many witnesses from the Laurinburg congregation would stop by from time to time to visit.  Her dear friend, Donna McLellan, came to visit her often and cheered her up.

She enjoyed teaching the Bible to many people through the years and this spread to many in their families. Her favorite Scriptures were Revelation 21:4 and Psalm 37:9-11 and other passages regarding the resurrection hope.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Eugene Clifton, Sr., daughter, Melva Abbott, and 10 siblings: Lois, Eldon, Glysta Mae, Nora, Ada, Alma, George Robert, Gerald, Hubert, and Wilbur.  She is survived by two sons; Douglas Clifton (Mary Helen) of Leland, Eugene Clifton, Jr. (Joan) of Wilmington; daughter, Judith Clifton McLamb (David) of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Jerod Clifton (Kim) of Wilmington, Shane Clifton (Angela) of Wilmington, Byron Clifton (Jennifer) of Myrtle Beach, Dara McLamb Dimitri (Michael) of Leland and Aaron McLamb (Gina) of Leland; great grandchildren; Alexander Clifton, Presley Clifton, Jensen Clifton, Claudia Dimitri, Stephen Dimitri, Dominic Dimitri, Brendan Dimitri, Gavin McLamb and Garrett McLamb; and great great grandson, Marley Clifton. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Bobby King (Jackie) of Davenport, FL; sister, Leland Crook of Decatur, GA, and sister-in-law, Shirley King of Ahoskie, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the home of Judi Clifton McLamb, Friday, December 30, 2016 5-8 PM.

She fell asleep in death faithful to Jehovah on December 27, 2016.
