Vernie Thompson Taylor, 80, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the East Laurinburg Church of God officiated by the Rev. Dr. Jeffery McGirt. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Neal (Prince) of Laurinburg, Gail Shirley (Donald) of Rockingham, Kathy Olsen (John) of Fayetteville, and Virginia Ray of Laurinburg; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Steve and Betty Jacobs Thompson, her husband, Alton Ray Taylor, her sons, Al and Ricky Taylor, and her 13 siblings.
An active and dedicated member of the East Laurinburg Church of God, Vernie also was retired from Waverly Mills and later LOF Glass after many years of service. Her family always received her special attention and praise, and she enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the East Laurinburg Church of God, (for the Children's Home), PO Box 1954, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the East Laurinburg Church of God.
McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium is serving the family.
