Verdie (Harris) Harding

Verdie Harris Harding, 84, of Laurinburg, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Morrison Manor.

A funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Michael Malpass. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11-12 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Born June 24, 1934 in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late Wardell and Fronie Dial Harris. She retired from Scotland County Social Services and was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church. She volunteered at Lumber River EMC as well as Meals on Wheels, was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and along with her husband, became a member of the NC State Beekeepers Association.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William “Bill” A. Harding of the home; daughter, Cynthia Harding Phillips (Stephen) of Angier; brother, Horace Harris (Inez) of Dunn; sister, Letha Locklear (Gene) of Laurinburg; grandsons, Stephen Phillips Jr. (Sarah) and David Phillips; and great-grandson’s, Jack Phillips and Charlie Phillips. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Patty Harris, Paul Harris, Frank Harris and Daris Harris.
