Mrs. Velna Mullis Peele Brock, 84, of 301 McLaurin Ave. died Sunday, November 17, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Jim Bumgardner. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Peele of Seattle, WA; two daughters, Jane Callahan and husband, Frank of Laurinburg and Doris P. Milligan of Laurinburg; eight grandchildren, Keith Pickels, Tracy Sheppard, Samantha Sheppard, Kirt Callahan, Andy Callahan, John Callahan and wife, LeAnn, Casey Peele, and Carly Peele.
Born July 1, 1918 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late O. C. and Margaret Helms Mullis. She was a retired bedspread inspector at Heritage Weavers.
Mrs. Brock joined Laurinburg Presbyterian Church and was baptized on March 29, 1942, and later joined Middleton Heights Presbyterian Church on November 3, 1958. She became a member of Faith Presbyterian Church when it was formed from Middleton Heights in 1987. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women and was a cook for their annual ingatherings. She is remembered as a wonderful mother, cook, and she enjoyed gardening.
