Vay Miller Cole

Vay Miller Cole, 106, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Troy, officiated by Rev. Glenn Hancock. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

Born January 25, 1916, in Davidson County, she was a daughter of the late John and Bertie Lyons Miller. Vay was born in Denton, NC and moved to Troy where she lived out her life with her husband. She had worked at Smitherman Mill and was a fulltime mother and grandmother. Vay was an active member at First United Methodist Church in Troy for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and church group. She adored all of her many generations of grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thank you to her friend and caregivers, Diana Rivers, and Dalton and Regan Harris.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Vicki Hill (Rick) of Asheboro, Donna Andrews of Robbins, Gary Cole of Sanford, Brandy Hoover (Gary) of Asheboro, and Tera Andrews of VA.; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Cole; son, Jack Cole; brother, Reggie Miller, John “Buddy Red” Miller, and her sisters, Margie Gallop, and Leo Clodfelter.
