Toula Yeapanis Van Hooser, 70, died suddenly Tuesday, February 18.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
She is survived by her aunts, Catherine Yeapanis of Newport News, VA, Katine Yeapanis Haditheodosiu and Penonou Neofitou of Limassol, Cyprus, her first cousin and family, Demetra Yeapanis Kontos (Christopher) and Michael and Alexi of Durham; her sister-in-law, Sandra Yingling (Ralph) of Ohio, and a life-long friend, Peggy Jones of Laurinburg.
Born March 25, 1943 in Cyprus, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Sunday Papantoniou Yeapanis. She graduated from Laurinburg High School, attended Pfeiffer University and St. Andrews University; later teaching for 40 years in Alexandria, VA and Laurinburg, NC. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Delta Omicron.
A very active member and volunteer at the First United Methodist Church, Toula was a former chair of the Trustees, the Worship Committee, and the United Methodist Women. She also served as a member of the Chancel Choir and the Laurinburg Pilot Club.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
