Tony Lee Lassiter

Tony Lee Lassiter, 76, of Troy passed away on April 11, 2023, at his residence.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Long Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Candor, officiated by Pastor Mark Forrest. The family will receive friends following the service.

Born July 22, 1946, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Gladston and Sallie Moore Lassiter. Tony was a veteran of the US Army. He served his country with honor and distinction. Tony loved gardening and tending to his chickens. He took great pride in growing the biggest and most delicious tomatoes, which he generously shared with his friends and neighbors. His love for his garden was matched only by his love for his Lord and his church family. Tony was a loving and devoted grandfather who delighted in watching his grandchildren grow and learn, and his memory will live on in their hearts forever.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sheila Cranford Lassiter, who remained the love of his life until his final days. Together, they raised two children; daughter, Sherry Brock (Mike) and their children, Zachary (Lauren) and Danielle of Troy; son, Brian Lassiter (Beverly) and their children, Madeline and Matthew of Troy. In addition to his immediate family, Tony leaves behind his brother, Rudy Lassiter of Troy.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Lassiter.
