Tina Chavis Newton, 45, died Monday, December 12, 2011, at her residence on Knox Street.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at South Laurinburg Baptist Church with the Rev. James Standridge officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy Newton of the home; one daughter, Kristina King and husband Darrell of Pinebluff, N.C.; one sister, Toni Priest of Laurinburg, N.C.; three grandchildren, Dakota Cheyenne Spangler, Alexander Britt Spangler, and Donovan Desean King; and two nieces, Sammie Jo Locklear and April Lynn Locklear.
Born April 12, 1966 in Scotland County, she was a daughter of the late Hearl Chavis and Patricia Carol (Williams) Chavis.
Having worked in the textile industry, sewing was not only a form of employment to Tina, but soon became a hobby. She was also a whiz at browsing the internet.
McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium is serving the family.
