Thomas Curtis "Tommy" Britt, Jr. , 50, died peacefully on May 29, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church. A visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.
He is survived by his mother, Hazel Britt-Hennecy, of Hamlet; wife, Jacque, of Laurinburg; children, Mary Taylor Britt, Katherine Britt, and Curt Britt;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Cameron and Kim Wills, of Charleston, SC; brother-in-law, John Wills, of Rockingham; brother-in-law, Burke Wills, of
Carthage and niece, Mary Laurin Wills.
Tommy is also survived by many players and coaches whom he considered family.
He was predeceased by his father, Curtis Britt, Sr., and sister, Diane Britt
Mckenzie.
Tommy will be remembered for his love of his family and his motivational spirit. He was a mentor, coach and great friend to many. During his 26 years at
Scotland High School he served in many capacities; among then were teacher, coach, and athletic director. His decorated career has many highlights,
including leading the Scotland High Baseball Team to the North Carolina 4-A Championship title in 2006.
During his coaching career one of his greatest joys was having the opportunity to coach his son, Curt, who is now playing for the University of South Carolina.
Tommy will be lovingly remembered by his motto "Always make good decisions and
do what's right".
