Laurinburg
Dr. Thomas Franklin Henley, 96, of Sherbrooke Circle died Friday, November 21 at his home.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Neal Carter and the Rev. Elizabeth Forester.
He is survived by his wife, Richie Powell Henley; a son, Dr. Thomas F. Henley, II of San Marco, CA; a daughter, Katherine Calhoun Youman of Quenta, Equador; a step-daughter, Elizabeth Ann Henderson of Raleigh.
Born June 12, 1912 in Laurinburg, he was a son of the late Thomas L. and Margery Jeanette McCormick Henley. He was the last surviving member of the Laurinburg High School Class of 1929, graduated from Davidson College, graduated of UNC Medical College in 1936, and Harvard Medical College in 1938 with a specialty in pediatrics. During World War II he served with the US Navy in Miami and Maryland. Afterwards, he became the director of the outpatient clinic at Cornell Hospital after receiving a degree in psychiatry. He retired in 1991 and returned to Laurinburg.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
