Thomas Charles (Bill) Terry

Thomas Charles "Bill" Terry, 83, died Saturday, February 8, 2014.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, of 64 years, Cora Tucker Terry; his daughter, Vicky T. McDaniel (Dale) of Laurinburg; his son, Thomas C. Terry, Jr. (Kami) of Apex; his sister, Sarah Logan of Laurinburg; and his grandson, Andrew Mark Terry of Apex. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Grace White, Myrtle Wiese, Margaret Bodiford, and Mary Pate.

Bill was born September 7, 1930 in Scotland County to the late Thomas Charles Peele and Ila May Peele. After his mother's death the late Wade Crawford Terry and Georgia Peele Terry became his parents.

In 1994, following 28 years of dedicated service; he retired from Scotland Memorial Hospital and afterwards faithfully served at the treasurer of the First United Methodist Church until recent months. He was a faithful life-long member of the First United Methodist Church and the Ed Guest Class.

He was also a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and the finance officer for American Legion Post 50. He loved quail hunting, fishing, and sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends, and the community, as he was appreciated for his famous pecan pies and his homegrown tomatoes.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 101 W. Church St., Laurinburg, NC 28352.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
