Mrs. Susan King Combs Lockey, 88, died Sunday, April 11, 2010.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke United Methodist Church officiated by the Revs. Jay Winston and Jim Lee. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by a brother, Jim King of Santa Rosa, CA; two sisters, Gene Peele of Lookout Mountain, TN and Helen Larsen of Cedar Falls, IA; four step-sons, Nelson Lockey, Robert Lockey, James Lockey, and Morrison Lockey; two step-daughters, Vivian Sellers and Lynda Lovick; 16 nieces and nephews.
Born January 16, 1922 in Why Not, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Harriett Leola Smith King and widow of the late Trosper Combs and Robert "Bob" Lockey. She graduated from UNC-P and taught marketing in the distributive education departments at Laurinburg High School and later Scotland High School. She was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and served on numerous committees and church circles.
