Sue Brooks McRae, 85, passed away Monday, December 28.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Jim (Jenny) McRae and William (Tammy) McRae of Laurinburg; her daughter, Sally (Bob) Ormsby of Wagram; her brother, Bill brooks of Lumberton; her sisters, Lois Lowery of Springfield, VA, Patsy White of Lumberton, and Peggy Currie of Wilmington; 7 grandchildren – including Susan McColl whom she raised as her own, and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug McRae; her daughter, Linda Fletcher; her brothers, Marshall Brooks and J. B. Brooks; her sisters, Gladys White and Josephine Lowery; and a granddaughter, Margaret McRae.
Sue was born December 15, 1930 in Richmond County and was a daughter of the late John B. and Hattie Morgan Brooks. She served for 25 years as a teller and teller trainer for The State Bank and later Wachovia. In her spare time she crafted pine needle baskets, Raggedy Ann dolls, and other crafts.
Memorials are requested for Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 1213 Mt. Moriah Rd., Maxton, NC 28364.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
