Stephen "Stevie" Allan Haywood

Stephen “Stevie” Allan Haywood, 67, of Mt. Gilead passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Holly Mount Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead, officiated by Tony Sedberry. Burial will follow at G.T. Haywood Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. at the church.

Born January 18, 1956, in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late G.T., Jr. and Josephine Parsons Haywood. Stevie had worked as a crane operator for over 30 years at Troy Lumber Company. Stevie loved everybody. He loved caring for all his birds, and his little fur baby dog, Sadie. Stevie enjoyed wood craving, playing his guitar, and he was a jack-of-all trades. He loved his Mustang, fishing, outdoors, bluegrass music, and square dancing.

He is survived by his special friend, Gertie Swaringen, of Norwood; sister, Frances Freeman, of Mt. Gilead; brothers, Tilman Haywood, Bobby Haywood, Garry Haywood (Debbie), David Haywood (Michelle), and Chuck Haywood (Lisa), all of Mt. Gilead; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Wayne Haywood.
