Stefanie Rita Wolfsgruber met American serviceman Charles Eddy Fitzgerald in 1962 when he was stationed in Germany. Their love led to marriage and eventually their coming to America, her for the first time.
Throughout Charles extended military career, his injury in Vietnam, and their life at military bases across the South, she proved to be a supportive and loving wife, strongly family oriented, and her strong convictions surfaced in defense of her husband and other life issues over the years. Life was precious to Rita..
In March, 2015 she and Charles moved to Scotia Village where shortly afterward she was diagnosed with cancer. She finished her course in faith on August 31.
A memorial service for Mrs. Fitzgerald will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 6, at Scotia Village.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brothers, Peter Wolfsgruber and Helmut Wolfsgruber of Austria; her sister, Gerttaud Wolfgruber and sister-in-law, Julia Wolfsgruber of Austria.
