Stacy "Smokey" Timothy Britt

Stacy "Smokey" Timothy Britt, age 58, of Wagram passed away on January 25, 2026.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium Chapel, located at 305 W Church St, Laurinburg, NC 28352. The family will receive friends one hour prior beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Smokey was born on August 13, 1967, in Scotland County, North Carolina to the late Stacy and Mary Magdalene Britt. Smokey's passion for life was evident in everything he did, from his love for motorcross, motorcycles, and four-wheelers to his significant enjoyment of cooking and sharing meals with loved ones. His heart was particularly drawn to a good hot dog. He built his life on the open road, spending his career driving trucks and hauling mobile homes, work he took great pride in. He was proud to work for Bennett Truck Transport and truly loved the people he worked alongside, forming friendships that meant so much to him. He never met a stranger and genuinely loved everyone he encountered on that journey. Among all the places his work took him, Oakwood Homes of Morehead City held a special place in his heart, where he found both purpose in his work and lasting connections. Smokey was the anchor of his family and will be remembered for his generous heart and unwavering willingness to help others.

Smokey was survived by his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Starner Britt, with whom he shared 37 beautiful years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love and countless precious memories. He was a proud father to his two children of the heart, Sharon Britt Cripe (Billy) of Clover, SC, and Shane Michael Britt (Mckenly) of Wagram, whom he loved, guided and supported as his own; and his two grandchildren of the heart, Huxlon Patrick Cripe and Dexlee Lincoln Cripe, both of Clover; by his sister, Barbie Britt of Wagram; his sister-in-law, Caroline Starner of Laurel Hill; his brother-in-law, Richard Starner (Christy) of Laurel Hill; and his mother-in-law, Mary Frances Starner of Laurel Hill; and nephews, Mike Campbell, Matt Campbell, and Charlie Locklear.

Smokey is preceded in death by his sister, Karen Sue Britt; his brother-in-law, Robert Aaron Starner; his father-in-law, Richard Axel Starner; his paternal grandmother, Dollie Britt; and his maternal grandmother, Annie Mae Drew.
