Sigrid Hildegard Harris

Sigrid Hildegard Harris, 71, of Troy, affectionally known as “Sigi” to friends and family and “Oma” to her grandchildren, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026 at her residence.

A graveside service will be held Friday, February 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Troy. The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.

Born June 1, 1954, in Nuremberg, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Mike and Erika Hollinger Friedman. Sigrid was adopted by her father, a US soldier, and moved to the United States with her parents and became a US citizen. She had to learn to speak English at the age of nine and was fluent in 4 languages - German, Italian, Spanish, and English. Sigrid had retired as an LPN from the NC Dept. of Corrections.

Sigrid enjoyed gardening, flowers, and plants. She could make anything grow. She loved working with her numerous flowers and plants inside and outside. Sigrid would often gift flowers to friends and family. Her most favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Harris of the home; children, Aaron Dodge (Megan) of Santa Cruz, CA, Erika Banister of Troy, and step-son, Matt Harris (Chrystal) of Troy; sister, Junie Friedman (Robert) of FL; brother, Willie Friedman of FL; grandchildren, Raiden Banister and Kasen Pack; and step-grandchildren, Scotty, Katelyn, Matthew, Haeley, Jackson, Karah, Levi, and Karli. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-daughter, Leah Harris.
