Sidney Archie McRimmon, 93, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Scotia Village.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Rebecca Kahnt. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Morris Morgan Room at Scotia Village and following the service at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his son, Archie McRimmon, Jr (Pamela Fleming) of Las Vegas; his daughters, Delia Muse (John) and Patsy Bellinger (Jim) of Laurinburg; his grandchildren, Michael Muse (Erin) of Cary, Emmie Muse of Apex, and Joe Bellinger of Columbia, SC.
Born May 29, 1921 in Rowland, he was a son of the late Neil J. and Emmie Moore McRimmon and widower of the late Janice W. McRimmon. Archie is a graduate of Lees-MacRae College and Appalachian State University and then served in the US Navy from 1943-45.
He was co-owner of Kenny's Superette from the mid 1950's until 1970, and served as the Tax Supervisor for Scotland County for 12 years. He was also a Real Estate Broker and operated a Real Estate appraising business.
An active community volunteer, Archie was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Laurinburg Optimist Club where he was instrumental in establishing the annual Christmas tree sale and Optimist Park. In his spare time he loved golf and playing bridge with his friends at Scotia Village.
