Shirley Miller, 89, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Scotia Village.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Scotia Village, officiated by Rev. Dr. Terry Hunt and Rev. Elizabeth Forester. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Born January 24, 1929 in Allegheny County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Culbertson Pierce. She was an avid tennis player and also a Physical Education teacher in the Steel Valley School District where she served as Chair of the Physical Education Department. She was a member and former president of the Munhall, Homestead, West Mifflin Interboro College Club and was President of her Sunday School Class for many years at Homestead Park United Methodist Church in Munhall, PA. In addition to playing tennis, she also enjoyed chair volleyball, water aerobics and many other activities at Scotia Village.
She is survived by her daughter, Melanie M. Pracht and husband Matthew, and grandson, Mark Pracht, all of Laurinburg. She is preceded in death by her husband, William James “Bill” Miller.
