Mrs. Shirley Ward Eley, 81, of Scotia Village and formerly of Pinehurst died Wednesday, July 12 at Scotia Village.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, July 22 at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. L. D. Kimrey.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ernie Eley; two sons, Robert Eley and wife, Christie of Bluffton, SC and Stephen Eley and friend, Judy of Perryville, MD; a brother, Roy B. Ward of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren.
Born April 3, 1925 in Norfolk, VA, she was a daughter of the late Rowland and Doris Fields Ward. Shirley was an avid bridge player, a golfer, and gifted painting artist.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the memorial service.
