Mrs. Shirley Lowe Conklin, 74, died Saturday, February 20, 2010.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Stewartsville Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Eddy Simmons.
She is survived by three sons, Steve Conklin, Greg Conklin, and Michael Conklin of Laurinburg; a daughter, Lisa Strickland of Ash; three brothers, Benny Ray Lowe, Robert Lowe, and Dexter Lowe of Burlington; six sisters, Pat Shambley of Graniteville, SC, Sue Brooks, Bonnie Lowe, Sylvia McCormick, Patricia Townsend and Rhonda Branham of Burlington; eight grandchildren, James Steven Conklin, II, Bryttney Nycole Conklin, Meghan Marie Thompson, Brandi Lynnette Conklin, Tiffanie LeAnn Strickland, Cody Conklin, Shawn Michael Conklin, and Justin Parker Conklin; and 3 great grandchildren, Brendan James Conklin, Zachary Conklin, and Ian Conklin. She was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Lowe.
Born March 12, 1935 in Alamance County, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Magnolia Sharpe Lowe and widow of the late James Parker Conklin. For many years she was employed with Abbott Laboratories in the quality control department. Shirley especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sitting on her backporch and talking with her sons, and watching the birds.
Memorials may be made to the Audio-Video Fund, Stewartsville Baptist Church, 10201 McColl Hwy., Laurinburg, NC 28352.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
