Sara Brooks Nair James

Mrs. Sara Brooks Nair James, 76, died Thursday, May 27th.
Born January 17, 1923 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, she was the daughter of Charles Perry Nair, Jr. and Sara Logan Brooks Naair, and the wife of the late Dr. William Duer James, who was surgeon and chief of staff at the Hamlet Hospital and a North Carolina State Senator.
She is survived by five daughters, Dr. Sara (Sally) N. James and husband, David L. Mims, Jr. of Staunton, VA, formerly of Norfolk; Betty James Montgomery and husband, Walter S. Montgomery, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC; Lillian James Smith and husband, Percy R. Smith of Wilmington, NC; Virginia James Shelley and husband, Mark E. Shelley of Concord, NC; and Janey Marie James of Raleigh, NC. She has twelve grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Nair Armstrong of Covington, VA.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Hillside Cemetery, Laurinburg, NC officiated by the Rev. Dr. E. Douglas Vaughan.
