Sandra Kay Peed Young, age 78, of Benson, NC.

To know Sandra was to be welcomed, listened to, loved, and cooked for.

She faced kidney disease with courage and grace, surrounded by her family and many friends. Endowed with quiet strength, inner light, and deep gratitude for the graciousness of God, Sandra lived her life in faith and love until her peaceful passing on November 8, 2025, surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Firstborn Baptist Church, 10781 NC-50, Benson, NC. The family will receive visitors the same day from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m., directly before the service. Her husband of 60 years will officiate. Burial will follow at Sandy Grove Cemetery, 19715 NC-210, Angier, NC.

The McGee’s Crossroads community will remember Sandra for her skill as a pianist at Firstborn Baptist Church, her years of teaching at Gateway Christian School, and most of all, for her love and kindness toward everyone she met.

Known affectionately as “Mama Sandra” to her family, friends, and colleagues, she was a bright, dedicated, and gracious woman. Grounded in faith, family, and strong values, Sandra nurtured, loved, and cared for countless people throughout her community.

Sandra was born on July 11, 1947, in Johnston County, NC, to Arvie L. Peed and Ola T. Peed. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Durwood K. Young; daughter, Amy Agnor (Matt); grandson, Wyatt Evans (Candace); granddaughters, Caitlin Ellington (Landon) and Valerie Lee (Josh); great-grandson, Dallas Kemp Lee; and many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Wayne L. Peed of Angier, NC.
