Sandra Miriam (Decker) Mcginnis

On Friday, July 17th, 2020, Sandra Miriam Decker McGinnis, passed away at home in Laurinburg North Carolina, surrounded by family.  She was born on March 24, 1938 to Lillian Miriam and James Decker and grew up on a farm in New Jersey where she developed her lifelong love for horses. She learned to ride at a very young age, and continued her passion through adulthood.

Services will be held at a later date. Known affectionately as "GG" by her loved ones, family was the most important thing in her life. She loved spending most of her time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  GG was a selfless provider and always put her family first. She always found a way to overcome adversity and was never seen without a smile on her face. GG's memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family.  She is survived by her children and their spouses - Tammie and John Slaughter (Laurinburg), Patrick and Lisabeth McGinnis (Wake Forest), Susan and Frederick Haywood (Laurinburg) and Erinn Saland (Florida); grandchildren - Colleen Hanson, JR McGinnis, Catherine Terry, Carlie Fink-Maddux, Macon McGinnis, Shannon McGinnis, Jack McGinnis, Tucker Saland, Chase Saland, Aislyn Saland, Logan Saland, Miller Slaughter, Mary John Slaughter and Harrison Slaughter; and great-grandchildren - Jaselyn, Savannah, Miles, Remi, Sawyer, Parker, Berkley, Quinn, Maribel, Vivianne and Harper. The family is forever grateful to Pam Brown, Patricia Rivers and Marilyn Jones, dedicated caregivers who made GG's last month’s very special.
