Sallie Mae Ivey, 80, of Maxton, entered the presence of Jesus surrounded by her family at 12:10 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2023.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at East Laurinburg Baptist Church in Laurinburg, officiated by Rev. Richard Tyson and Rev. Dr. Robert Ivey. An entombment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton, NC. A visitation will be held at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service and Crematorium from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
Born on October 25, 1942, in Hoke County, she was the daughter of the late Ruby Irene Daniels. Sallie was a Engineering Tech at Abbot Laboratories for over 25 years. She was a loving wife, who enjoyed looking after her husband. She was also a good mother and grandmother who enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. She was a housewife as well as a working wife.
Sallie lived life to its fullest and enjoyed many hobbies which included; fishing, travelling, and shopping. She served faithfully in her church and helping friends in the community. She always opened up her home for food, fun, and fellowship.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob Douglas Ivey of the home; son, Rev. Dr. Robert Ivey (Carolyn) of Fayetteville; daughter, Amy Marie (Gary Neff) of Maxton; step-daughters, Beverly (Lucy) Barker of Bessemer City, and JoAnn Johnson of Maxton; grandchildren, Carrie, Amber, Melissa, Andrew, and Zoey; brother, Charles Daniels of Raeford.
