Ruth "Sissy" Stella (Poole) Freeman

Ruth "Sissy" Stella Poole Freeman, 68, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at her residence. Born on April 22, 1956, in Nurnberg, Germany, Ruth lived a life marked by adventure, joy, and an unwavering commitment to her family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Star United Methodist Church in Star with Reverend Jun Yang and Reverend Kay Boone officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Rickey Freeman of fifteen years, of the home; her children, Jimmy McFayden (Destiny) of Troy, Tim McFayden (Katie) of Laurinburg, and Becky Jarrells (Billy) of Candor; bonus daughter, Charity Hicks (Justin) of Troy; grandchildren, Marissa, Christopher, Faith, Grace and Hope; and sister, Susan Britt of Troy. She is preceded in death by husband, Jerry McFayden and her parents, James and Stella Poole.

A lifelong learner, Ruth earned an associate's degree that served as the foundation for her successful career as a Business Manager in an Optometrist's office.

Sissy's zest for life was evident to all who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who embraced life's journey with an infectious enthusiasm. Travel was one of her deepest passions—each trip was an opportunity to create lasting memories and to savor the world's beauty.
