Mrs. Ruth McLeod Allen, 87, of 143 W. Graham St., died Sunday November 5, 2000 in Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Presbyterian Church in Maxton with Rev. Melvin Childress officiating.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Allen Wright of Maxton; a son, Marcus H. Allen, Jr and wife Betty of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Amy Allen of Jackson, WY, Merritt Allen of Raleigh, Skeet Woolard and wife Candice of Rocky Mount, Lynn Rowley and Jill Byers both of Fort Myers, FL. Five great Grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews also survive her.

Born July 3, 1913 in Maxton, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Margaret Elizabeth McIver McLeod. Her husband Marcus Henderson Allen preceded her in death.

A retired librarian with the Scotland Memorial Library, Mrs. Allen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Maxton. She was a graduate of Salem College.
