Russell Earl Hay, Jr., 84, of Scotia Village died Monday, July 8, at Scotia Village Retirement Center.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Morris Morgan Entertainment Center at Scotia Village officiated by the Revs. Tom Groome and Tom Dendy.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Aull Hay of Scotia Village, daughters, Nancy Cadwallender of Sanford, FL., Susan Ryan of Albany, NY. And Katherine Hay of New Bern, NC. Also surviving are two grandchildren.
Born January 6, 1918 in Dayton, OH He was a son of the late Russell Earl and Harriett Lillis Hay.
He received his BS degree from Miami of Ohio, his Masters at the University of Nebraska, and his PhD from the University of Illinois and was a plant Physiologist. He was also a member of Phi Kappa Tau Honors Fraternity.
Russell was a US Army veteran of WWII serving with the Corps of Engineers at Okinawa and later retiring from the Army Reserve. He was a member of the American Legion, Retired Officers Association, American Society of Plant Biologists, and the American Chemical Society.
He was also an assistant director of research administration at Ohio State University and retired director of Research Development at Wright State University.
He was a formerly a resident of Carthage, NC.
