Mrs. Roxie Somersett Young, 85, of 605 S. Austin St. died Friday, December 3, at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Revs. Norvin Forester and Mike Creekmore. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Born May 27, 1914 in Columbus County, she was a daughter of the late John K. and Idella Strickland Somersett and widow of the late Charles Jesse Young. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, J. C. Young of Thomasville, Roy Young of Calabash, and Charles Young, Jr. of Maxton; three daughters, Frances Cook of Thomasville, Mary Rodrigues of Houston, TX, and Betty Wright of Raleigh; a sister, Snodie Vanderburg of Lumberton; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
