Rowena Bunch Dore died Monday December 29, 2003 after a long struggle with Alzhiemer's/Dimentia at the Brian center in Laurel Park, NC.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 10, at St. Mary Catholic Church officiated by the Rev. Robert Digleman. Burial will follow in Beaver Dam Cemetery in McColl, SC
Rowena was born July 5th, 1917 to the late John Leroy and Cora Bunch of McColl, S.C. She was the wife of the late Carrol Joseph (CJ) Dore. She came to Laurinburg in 1937 after high school and worked at Harris Ice and Fuel, McLaurin and McArthur Cheverolet, and The ASCS office as a legal stenographer. She was a member of St.Mary's Catholic Church in Laurinburg.
Rowena leaves behind Two sons Darrel J. Dore of Washington, D.C. and David J. Dore of Hendersonville, N.C., one sister Dorothy Varner of Camden, S.C., five grandchildren Elizabeth Brown, Thomas Dore, Aaron Dore, Anna Dore and Jacquelyn Dore. In lew of flowers the family asks that gifts be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, N.C. 28215 or by phone at 1-800-888-6671. A special thanks goes to all the caregivers at the Brian Center for their concern and dedication in her final years.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 9, at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium with a Vigil service at 7 p.m.
