Rosa Lee Taylor Ammons, 93, of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 4, 2014. She previously resided in the Springfield community and Live Oak Estates in Laurinburg, NC until October 2012. She suffered from dementia and was in declining health for the past several years.
She was born on August 27, 1920 to the late Chester Lone Taylor and Maggie Polston Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ammons; her sisters, Thelma Walters and Josie Mauldin Locklear, and her brothers, James Taylor and Edward Taylor.
She is survived by her son, Richard Ammons and wife, Tena of Laurel Hill; her daughter, Barbara Marcum and husband, Al of Huntsville, AL; her grandchildren, Mike Marcum aid wife, Ginny of New Market, AL, Brian Marcum of Columbus, GA, Rick Ammons and wife, Lena of Rural Hall, NC, and John Ammons and wife Christy of Bladenboro, NC; her great grandchildren, Jordan Marcum of Huntsville, AL, Ella Rose and Luke Ammons of Rural Hall, NC, and Dalton Ammons of Bladenboro, NC; her nephew, Marcus Walters and wife, Cleo of Vass, NC. She was also preceded in death by her beloved dog, Scooter, her companion for several years.
She maintained relationship with her many nieces and nephews with special mention to Mable Mauldin Watson of Rockingham, NC, a niece who held a special place in her heart and whom she addressed as "daughter."
Her visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium with the Rev. J. B. Loving and Bishop Marvin Taylor, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park.
