Ronnie Richard Chavis, 59, died Saturday, December 4, at his home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium Chapel with burial following in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by four brothers, Carl Chavis (Becky) of Aberdeen, Louie Chavis of Charlotte, Martin Chavis of Laurinburg, and Randy Chavis (Tamra) of Darlington; nine sisters, Joyce (Boyd) Bauguess of Harrisburg, Elease Hampson of Ann Arbor, MI, Kaye Upham (Steve) of Scotsdale, AZ, Janice Jones of Wilmington, Geri McGirt of Phoenix, AZ, Carmen Sims of Greensboro, Ola Cunningham of Alexandria, VA, Peggy Van Fleet of San Antonio, TX, Vonnie Lockman of Greer, SC; two special friends, Sandi Willis of Charlotte and Peggy Craig of Darlington, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Born June 2, 1951 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Smiley and Roxie Clark Chavis. He lived most of his adult life serving as a heavy equipment operator in Mecklenburg and Gaston Counties.
The family will be receiving friends from noon until service time Friday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
