The Rev. Roland Paul Fields, 80, of 2788 Morrison Road died, February 2, in Robeson County as a result of an automobile accident.


Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the East Laurinburg Church of God officiated by the Revs. Jeff McGirt, Bill Sheeks, and Harry Clark.


Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville with Ralph Fields, Paul Hyatt, Luther Todd, Matthew Williams, Everett McKenzie, and Gary Snuggs serving as pallbearers.


He is survived by three sons, Lenwood Fields of Fayetteville; Ronnie Fields and Wayne Fields of Laurinburg; two daughters, Barbara Stone of Lumberton and Judy Coats of Clayton; a brother, Roy Lee Fields of Hope Mills; two sisters, Helen McLean and Ila Mae Turlington of Hope Mills; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.


Born May 23, 1918 in Forsyth County, he was a son of the late J. P. and Myrtle May Fields. He served with the US Army in World War II, and following the War with Goda
