Mr. Roland Charles Bowyer, Jr. of 19800 Ida Mill Road died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 3:00 Friday, March 17, at East Laurinburg Baptist Church with the Revs. Lester English, J. W. Williams and Richard Tyson officiating. Burial will follow Hillside Memorial Park.
Born in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Roland Charles Bowyer, Sr. He served with the US Navy and was the owner of Bowyer Construction and Charles Specialty Shop. He was a third generation building contractor.
Charles was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and custom bike builder. He raised pheasants and waterfowl. He also enjoyed horticulture, RC aero modeling and fine woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Linda Lewis Bowyer of the home, a son Chuck Bowyer of Laurinburg, a step-son, Stephen Fields of Laurinburg; his mother, Essie Chaves Bowyer of Laurinburg; two brothers, Mike Bowyer and Tony Bowyer of Laurinburg; six sisters, Jean Brown, Pat Roberson and Christine Roberts of Laurinburg, Hilda Roberts of Leland, MS, Carolyn Bowyer of Greenwood, MS and Lois Bowyer of Charlotte. Also surviving is a grandson Roland Charles Bowyer, IV.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-9 PM at McDougald Funeral Home in Laurinburg.
