Robert Ames Walters Sr., 74, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at his home.
A graveside service will be held by the family at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Kings Cemetery in Laurel Hill, officiated by Rev. Franklin Eugene Walters with visitation following the service.
Born May 30, 1943 in Scotland County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Thelma Taylor Walters. He studied Mechanics in Fort Knox, KY, and worked as a diesel mechanic with Southern Railway, now CSX. He did basic training at Ft. Jackson before serving in the Army National Guard.
Robert loved wood working as he was a very crafted woodsman. He was also known as the “Bread man” at the local flea markets.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Ames Walters Jr. (Peg) of Wilkes-Barre, PA, David Earl Walters (Janelle) of Pleasant Hill, CA, Lloyd Andrew Walters of Clarksville, TN, and Rev. Franklin Eugene Walters (Michelle) of Talladega, AL; sisters, Carol Strickland of Garner, NC and Wanda Norton (Wayne) of Laurel Hill, NC; and brother, Marcus Walters (Cleo) of Carthage, NC. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Edith Harris, his daughter, Michelle Ann Russ, a sister, Mary Watts, and brothers, Thomas Walters Jr., Dalton Walters, Buddy Walters, and Billy Walters.
