Robert Wade Robinson

May 4, 1947 — March 14, 2020

Troy

Robert "Bob" Wade Robinson, age 72, of Troy passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born May 4, 1947 in Troy, NC the son of the late John F. Robinson and Vida Lee Stewart Robinson.

He spent 20 years serving his country in the U.S. Army, serving two tours in Vietnam. Some of his military medals include: National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2D Oak Leaf Cluster), Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Vietnam Campaign, Overseas Service Ribbon.

He was with the Troy Police Department for nine years and was a retired deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department serving 16 years. After his second retirement he went on to work at Samarcand Manor where he was known as "Grandpa Bob." He was a member of Masonic Lodge 718 and the Oasis Shrine. He served as a past president with the Fraternal Order of Police and was the past president of the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Association.

Bob enjoyed cooking for his family, watching Survivor, and listening to bluegrass music "real music" as he called it. He was an avid Carolina Panthers fan and attended the first game they ever played. He was a life-long member of Amazon Prime and probably has a stack of packages waiting at Heaven’s gate. He was also a self-proclaimed political expert, a mentor to many, and was the best husband, father and grandfather God ever put on this earth. His family was his life and he is probably looking down keeping a watchful eye on them. As you left his home you were always reminded to "watch out for the under tow.'

In addition to his parents he is preceded in life by his son, Robert "Robby" Wade Robinson Jr., grandparents, B.F and Ida Belle Robinson and great grandson, Silas Sechriest.

He is followed in life by his wife of 54 years, Janice Saunders Robinson of the home; daughter, Tammy H. Obrien of Troy; sisters, Sandy Lopez and Savannah Tobin, both of Oregon; brother, Gene Made of Randleman; grandchildren, Tripp (Stephanie) Robinson of Charlotte, Cameron (Sloan) Haywood of Gulfport, MS, Bailey Rose Haywood of Troy, Tabitha Robinson of High Point, and Colby Robinson of Biscoe; great grandchildren, Zoey Robinson, Noah Robinson, Parker Haywood, Jackson Haywood and Asher Sechriest.
