Robert Andrew Dye, 86, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Scottish Pines.
A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Duane Hix. A visitation will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
Born November 27, 1930 in Scott County, Missouri, he was a son of the late Tanner Charles and Cora Matthews Dye. He attended the School of Mines in Rolla, Missouri where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree and was commissioned on graduation into the Navy. Robert volunteered and served on the board with the local American Red Cross and was a member of the Kiwanis Club for many years where he assisted with the Terrific Kids program. He enjoyed learning how to fly following his retirement from Fluor Enterprises and was a faithful member of the Bible Class at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church where he also served as a Deacon and Elder.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Georgia Drake Dye of the home; daughter, Darcy Bowers and husband John of Raleigh; one niece and two nephews.
