Robert Eugene Burns

Robert Eugene Burns, 91, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020 at his home.

A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2020 at Troy Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Wilkinson. Burial will follow in the First Wesleyan Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm in the church prior to the service. Due to Covid-19, please practice social distancing and wear a mask or form of face covering.

Born April 4, 1929 in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late James “Jim” Ruffin and Velma Lassiter Burns. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he worked for 40 years in the floor covering business. He was an Avid fisherman and enjoyed wood working.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Betty Beane Burns of the home; sons, Robert “Bob” Eugene Burns Jr. of Troy, and Clayton Burns and wife Susan of Carthage; daughter, Jennifer Smith and husband Tony of Mt. Gilead; sister, Barbara Lynthacum and husband George; sister-in-law, Phyllis Burns; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother, Joe Burns and his sister, Doris Hamilton.
