Mr. Robert Ray "Bob" Martin, 70, of 7960 Scotch Meadows Drive died suddenly Monday, February 14, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.


Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church officiated by the Revs. Lawrence Coleman and Kyle Batson. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. at LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.


He is survived by his wife, Joanne Holmes Martin; a son, Craig Martin of Laurinburg; a daughter, Donna M. Odom of Clemmons; a brother, John B. Martin of Charlotte; a sister, Martha Cooper of Sumter, SC; three grandchildren, Allison Odom, Lauren Odom, and Blair Martin.


Born April 21, 1929 in St. Pauls, he was a son of the late John B. and Effie Britt Martin. Bob served with the US Army Air Corps and was a graduate of Wake Forest University. From 1967 until his retirement in 1987 he served as the administrator of Scotland Memorial Hospital. Most recently he has been employed part-time with the Scotland County Engineering Department.


Bob was a deacon and teacher for the Goodwyn-Moore Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church, a former chairman of the NC Hospital Association, and a former Rotarian. He was also a volunteer for Hospice of Scotland County.
