Robert Orlando Bennett

Robert Orlando (Landis) Bennett, 60, of Troy, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held Monday, July 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel in Troy, officiated by Pastor Hampton Bennet. A public visitation will be held Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Bumgarner Family Funeral Service.

Robert was born on August 8, 1962, in Montgomery County, to parents Robert Del and Louise Gainey Bennett. Robert was educated in the Boston Public School system in Boston, MA. He continued his education at Montgomery Technical College in Troy, NC. Robert had several jobs in and around Montgomery County and Guilford County. Robert had a passion for working with his hands; especially small engines and tinkering with cars. Robert had a good heart, he never met a stranger, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to everyone he met. He also loved to watch t.v. western and action movies with his sister Bridgette. They would sit and watch for hours and Bridgette would tell him he was a pain, and he would say, “Yeah, but I am your pain”. Robert was married to his late wife, Hazel Lee (Granny) Simmons Bennett and from this union they had one daughter, Bonita Simmons, and one step-son, Larry Jerome Simmons.

Robert leaves to cherish his loving memories; daughter, Bonita Simmons Adams; granddaughter, Taliyah Simmons of Charlotte; mother, Louise Gainey Bennett; sister, Bridgette Bennett; and brother, Travis Gainey, all of Troy; brother, Charles Gerald (Jamie) of Haverhill, MA; sister, Charlene Bennett of Biscoe, and Arlisa Bennett, Boston, Ma.; brother; Robert Bennett and sister, Tamika Bennett of FL. He also leaves a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends, and his friend and health care aide, Ms. Mable Gainey; Thank you. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Simmons Bennett, and step-son, Larry Jerome Simmons and father, Robert Del Bennett.
