Richard Steve Pope

Richard Pope, 74, of Troy, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Hospice House in Pinehurst.

A small service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Family Worship Ministries, 401 Troy-Candor Road, Troy, NC. The family will receive friends and family beginning at 12:00 noon on Saturday, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Dr. Harold Pope and Jeffrey Pope, brother and nephew of the deceased.

Born September 17, 1949, in Winston Salem, NC, Richard was the son of the late Willie and Lena Foust Pope. He grew up with a love of cars, motorcycles, and hunting. Richard spent his entire life learning the habits of wildlife, especially deer, and soaking up as much time as possible in the woods. After retiring in 2016, he devoted much of his time to hunting season.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Pope of the home; brothers, Larry (& Gay) Pope, of Denton; Harold (& Susie Pope) of Troy; and late James Pope, of Winston Salem; one daughter, Karen Pope Binns, of Troy; one son, Steve Pope, of. Hamlet; two step-sons, Ritchie (& Jessica) Stuart, of Troy; Mark (& Shelly) Stuart, of Woodrun; and 8 grandchildren: Damon & Delaina Binns, Trenton Kern, McKenzie & Katie Stuart, Brendon Stuart, Riley Stuart, & Gavin Johnson.
